Mahmoud is a very friendly host, he does his best to help his customers. Always ready to give us a free ride to and from Petra's gate and also arranged for bus to pick us up to go back to Amman.

The bedroom needs to be refreshed with a coat of paint, no shower curtain in the bathroom.

    Very good

They called to confirm that we were coming, so even though we were going to get there late, (10pm) we knew they knew we were coming.

    Fabulous

The staff was very helpful and kind. Free shuttle to the gate of Petra ruins.

    Superb

My husband and I stayed at the Sharah Mountain Hostel for 2 nights while visiting Petra. We had a wonderful time. The owner, Mahmoud, is impeccably honest and really cares about his guests and his business; treat him kindly and you will be repaid in kind (including with endless cups of tea, rides to Petra, and great stories of his life in Wadi Musa). The rooms are very clean and comfortable - this is not luxury accommodation, but for the price my husband and I were impressed with the television, hot showers and real double bed (not the attached twin beds that we've had everywhere else in this region). Go with Sharah Mountains - you will not be disappointed!

As a solo traveler I found manager and staff very helpful,,looked out for me.,ijcluding courtesy shuttle.

    Fabulous

The owner, Mahmoud is super friendly !!! He sits in the lobby and jumps on anyone walking in or out, giving friendly bear hugs, advise, free minibus rides to and from the Petra entrance which is 1.5 km away. He even cooked us a wonderful meal of mensef which is the national dish of Jordan, upon hearing that we wanted to try it.

The decoration in the lobby and dining room is so-so, but Mahmoud did not choose it, he bought it as part of the hotel 2 years ago. He is planning to change it asap when he will have the funds.

    Superb

The staff of this hotel is just great!! it is like if you are in a family.. They are taking care of you so much.. This hotel doesn't have "star" but it's excellent if you want to spend some time to visit Petra. Of course, the accomodation are not luxury but the price is so interesting and you have a good bed, TV and shower. I'll go back there!

    Fabulous

The owner is the best, the guy is really friendly! When we arrived at Wadi Musa we couldn't find the hotel, so he jumped on his van and came to pick us up far away from the hotel. He gave us all the info we needed and offered himself to guide us when we were about leave to the airport. The hotel is a budget optionl but is a good value for money. The accommodation is fair and the beds are quite nice. The shower is hot, and the TV has more than 200 channels if you want to relax after a busy day walking on site.

The Hotel is a bit old and dark, but to be franc the positive aspects of this budget hotel are far away more relevant.

    Exceptional

It is an excellent budget hotel is Wadi Musa, with Petra very close by! The best part of the hotel was Mamoud, the owner. He is very friendly and helpful and does his best to respond to every request to keep his guests happy. breakfast is included - it is simple but tasty: fresh pitas, egg, soft cheese, jam and tea/coffee. The rooms are simple but comfortable and there is a seemingly endless list of channels - which is great, because after a full day in Petra, lying back and watching TV is ideal. Our first night Mamoud recomended a restuarant to us, then called the people at the restaurant to tell them to give us something extra because we were his guests. I highly recommend this place for people in Petra.

It is a long walk to/from Petra - especially up hill at the end of the day. However, Mamoud happily drives people to Petra whenever they want to go - and a cab costs very little to get back. We liked this location, because we liked not being so close to Petra, as the restaurants in Wadi Musa are better and cheaper.

    Very good

Close to Petra and right in the middle of Wadi Mousa. The staff members were very helpful.

All of Petra is currently (May 2011) adversely affected by the downturn in Egyptian tourism, and Petra/Wadi Mousa has fewer tourists. This may mean reduced rates at quality hotels, but over the long run will not produce positive results.

The owner Mahmood is very friendly, he offers a welcome drink upon arrival.

The hotel is quite old and is in bad shape. Even though we understand that it is a budget hotel with limited resources for maintenance, the overall state was flithy with unclean sofas, dirty walls, unclean carpet, broken shower hose etc. It is quite difficult to feel comfortable in this environment, depite the relatively low price for one room night. With only a little effort and investment, the hotel could be put in much better shape.

    Good

Not ever being in Jordan before, I cannot say what a 2 star hotel in Jordan should be like. The staff was cordial & spoke English. The owner was there & was the "concierge," giving restaurant advise [we liked the Midtown Restaurant best], providing transportation to the entrance of Petra & where to get a cold beer in a Muslim country. And when I left my camera in the taxi, he was able to track the driver down & get the camera back. Everybody knows Mahmoud Masadeh. That was kind of fun. I felt like we had a very good local contact where ever we might be in southern Jordan.

The shower was either super hot or cold. The beds were a cross between hard foam & a "temperpedic." The door to the room looked like it had been broken into. It was a good thing we were travelers with nothing to steal. We stayed away from the entrance of Petra thinking we would be in town & the rates were much cheaper. But we were not really in a downtown hotel. And after walking in Petra all day we had no desire to explore the hilly town of Wadi Musa. I don't know that I would have stayed a better hotel because I was not going to pay the outrageous rates. $75 a night w/ "breakfast" is still not cheap. I guess Petra commands this kind of pricing. And Petra was awesome.

    Good

Hotel owner will do his best to help you during your stay and he really wants to help his guests. The ratio for quality and price is acceptable. The most important rooms are clean. Indeed some repair in bathroom would help better marks. I would reccomend this hotel for people not looking luxury hotel but instead good value hotel.

    Very good

The owner of the hotel organized a taxi for us from Aqaba Border to the Hotel for 40 jod. Driver was there in time, and we had a safe trip. Transfer from hotel to Petra also without any problems. About shower (somebody complaint about that): What is the problem with a shower without a curtain? You are in middle east, not us or uk (although I had hotels there without curtains too!). The bathroom and the towels were clean, that is important. Recommendable, especially for what you get for your money (very clean room, quiet, if you are to the backside). And for the "picknick": although we did not take it, we saw it, and it is worth the money. Be careful: You can buy drinks at Petra at decent prices, but nothing to eat (besides cookies) (the two restaurants at the end offer only buffet for 10.- resp. 17.- jod). No bakery close to the entrance of Petra! So the offer of the hotel for 4.- jod is a good deal.

Breakfast consists of one egg, one jam, one butter, pita bread and coffee/tee. But it is hard to find alternatives close by.

I didn't like anything about this place. It was minimally acceptable.

Showers are awful. Beds are pretty lousy. Doors hallways are very loud. Breakfast was below minimal.
